Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

'Ultraviolet' takes itself way too serious. The director is Kurt Wimmer who also made 'Equilibrium'. That film too took itself a little too serious, but it was well executed and had a very important and nicely delivered message. This film goes over the top with its visuals, which are not that great to begin with, drawing all the attention. They don't make a nice film, but as soon as other elements become important - story, dialogue, acting - 'Ultraviolet' completely falls flat. And then there is that terrible music.

Milla Jovovich is Violet, some kind of vampire, who protects a kid (Cameron Bright) both from humans and others from her kind, since he may carry the cure for the vampire-virus. "Vampire" is the nickname infected people have been given since they show many similarities to real vampires, although they, of course, do not exist. All this leads up to fighting sequences that make you appreciate films such as 'The Matrix', 'Croucing Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Kill Bill'. Jovovich fits this not so good looking world the right way, but I am not sure whether this is a compliment or an insult.

To be honest I am having hard time believing fans from either Jovovich or the sci-fi action genre will like 'Ultraviolet'. From start to finish it comes close to laughable, not exactly what the filmmakers intended. Of course there will be an audience for this, but I do not know any member of it.
