Suspiria rating: (out of 4 stars) Italy; 1977 Directed by Dario Argento; produced by Claudio Argento; written by Dario Argento, Daria Nicolodi Starring Jessica Harper, Stefania Casini, Flavio Bucci, Miguel Bosé, Barbara Magnolfi, Udo Kier 'Suspiria' is too much art-house for most horror-fans, and too much gore, blood and noise for the avarage art-house fanatic. The film is interesting for its approach and visual style, but the flaws, especially concerning the plot, are obvious. The soundtrack, provided by The Goblins, is both effective and annoying, sometimes within single scenes. Its gothic character does justice to the images provided by director Dario Argento and cinematographer Luciano Tovoli. Suzy Bannion (Jessica Harper) is new on a ballet school in Europe. The school conveniently lies in the woods, where, just after she arrives, a girl is leaving crying and screaming. The girl is murdered in a modern-horror way. More people related to the school are killed, and one of Suzy's classmates has found out some weird little things happening inside the school. Of course she ends up dead too.
