Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

'Return of the Jedi' feels a little different from 'Star Wars' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'. I am not really sure why that is but may be because there are much more strange creatures in this movie than in the other two. May be I say it wrong. In the other two movies the strange creatures lived in the world as seen in the movies and they just passed by. In this movie we take a closer look at the creatures. Consider an early scene with Jabba the Hutt where he is having a party. We don't just take a short look at the creatures (what happened in 'Star Wars' and 'The Empire Strikes Back') but we really have to see them. Some of them are singing, some of them are dancing, some of them are playing an instrument. After the movie I was still able to picture them.

The party I am referring to is one of the first pleasures we see in 'Return of the Jedi'. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) was frozen in 'The Empire Strikes Back' and he still is now, hanging on the wall in Jabba's living place. Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) comes to rescue him but she and the rest of the gang, including Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), end up being caught. This gives us a couple of other great scenes. One with a huge monster underground, one with a huge monster in the desert (again, both scenes have a creature as the main character), one with Leia in her gold bikini.

Of course our heroes have to escape and so they will. The evil Emperor and Darth Vader are building another Death Star and the rebellions have to stop that. The Death Star is located near a Forest Moon and that is where the story continues. Skywalker, Solo and Leia need to shut down a shield there but Skywalker also has to deal with Darth Vader and the dark side of the Force. After the big secret in 'The Empire Strikes Back' another big secret is revealed here, one we probably could have guessed.

In the forest we meet the Ewoks (we all know they are called Ewoks but in the movie they are never meant once by name), nice creatures, and they become friends and helpers for our heroes. Together they will save the universe. The closing scenes with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and the Emperor are great. Again, the scenes with Leia and Solo were my favorites and their last scene together is the way a last scene should be. After this we have a couple of scenes that were not so great in my opinion, but they look beautiful. The world of George Lucas, with all its special effects has a great last chapter. We will remember the story, the characters, the looks of planets, the spaceships and the music composed by John Williams.
