Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

'The 51 State' is a silly film with a silly plot and a silly Samuel L. Jackson, wearing a kilt. Sometimes it is fun, but the film is only about trying to look cool, nothing else. Even the kilt Jackson is wearing has no purpose but trying to make Jackson look cool, although the word I would use is silly. There is no good reason to see this film other then being a fan of one of the performers that also include Robert Carlyle, Meat Loaf, Emily Mortimer and Rhys Ifans.

It is not that the film is that bad it is just done a lot better before. Dealing drugs and being cool must sound pretty familiar. Jackson character is not only a black man in a kilt, his weapon of choice is a golf club. I am close to thinking that the reason for that is because Tiger Woods is also a cool black man with a golf club. With this film I might be right. Spending more words is useless. See this film if you really like any of the actors, or actually, love any of the actors. If not try something else like 'The Salton Sea' which is also a 'Trainspotting'/'Pulp Fiction' rip-off like this, but a much better one. Or you could watch the originals themselves.
