The Lady Eve rating: (out of 4 stars) United States; 1941 Directed by Preston Sturges; produced by Paul Jones; written by Preston Sturges Starring Barbara Stanwyck, Henry Fonda, Charles Coburn, Eugene Pallette, William Demarest, Eric Blore Barbara Stanwyck shines in this near-perfect screwball comedy. A delight to watch, 'The Lady Eve' basically exists out of two films with Henry Fonda falling in love with the same woman twice, although he thinks she is someone else the second time. Humor and excitement can be found in dialogue, mainly Stanwyck's, and physical action, mainly Fonda's. In between, romance and some con games are the center of this terrific film.
