Below you will find a temporary review for this film.
The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.
'Kakashi' is one of those movies where you hope there is a point it will
deliver, but that point never arrives. It is a horror movie that never has a
moment of suspense, although it does try to build suspense. The bad thing
here is that there are no other elements that can make up for that.
The simple story is about a girl named Kaoru (Maho Nonami) who goes to a
town to find her brother Tsuyoshi (Shansuke Yoshikawa). The town is where
her former friend Izumi (Kou Shibasaki) lives; she send Kaoru's brother a
letter. When she arrives in the town her brother and Izumi are not there.
She stays at Izumi's parent when strange things start to happen involving
the so-called "kakashi's", scarecrows with certain powers.
The story has some moments where real suspense is possible, but the
filmmakers were able to miss those opportunities. In my opinion the movie
was boring from start to finish. The only thing that kept me watching was
the hope for a point where everything would really start. Like I said, that
point will never arrive. Other things are mediocre. The direction, acting,
cinematography and music are not terrible, but not really good either. I
would recommend you watch something else.
