Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

Stealing gold, a couple of Mini Coopers and a terrific Michael Caine who plays Charlie Croker is what the original 'The Italian Job' has to offer. I wanted to see this movie before the 2003 remake and now that I have I understand why they have made a remake although I do think it wasn't really necessary. Of course things are aged a little. Some of the techniques simply don't work like that anymore, but the movie still is funny, exciting and filled with nice action sequences.

The movie is about a group of people, with Croker as their leader just released from prison, who go to Italy to steal a couple of million dollars in gold. They will make sure that the car that is transferring the gold will get stuck in a traffic jam. How they will do that is for you to see. To escape from this traffic jam themselves they use Mini Coopers.

We see how they plan the whole thing and how they all do it. With lots of funny moments, a very exciting chase and the perfect ending for this kind of movie, this is a very entertaining movie. Caine has the best and most funny moments, but other members of the cast do a pretty good job as well.
