Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

'In the Heat of the Night' has a good story although it has aged a little. Of course racism is still a thing we have to deal with today, but things have changed. It doesn't matter much, because we all know that the things happening in this movie did happen a lot and sometimes still happen, I guess.

Rod Steiger won the Academy Award for his leading role, Sidney Poitier wasn't even nominated. I guess today that would be different. Both actors (and the supporting actors) give very strong performances. The story, a classic whodunit, doesn't really cheat although no real clues are given during the movie. Well, we have clues, but no useful clues for the watcher. There is a story, but it is there to show us the things the movie wants to tell us. It does a good job because we definitely get the message. A classic that has aged a little but still stands pretty strong.
