Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

According to the rules of Dogme '95 you have no makeup, no artificial light, no sets that are build by a crew and so on. Nothing is fake and in a movie where nothing is fake, I suppose, things like sex have to be real as well. The problem with this is that a lot of people will not want to watch 'Idioterne'. Nudity and sex are very graphic here and although it didn't bother me, it will bother probably most other people.

With a hand-held camera director Lars von Trier shows us how a group of people act like idiots to find their inner idiot. Most of the characters have their own little storyline, but although the story was interesting enough, for me it was not what made this movie good and interesting. I think one of the important things in a movie like this is the acting and I must say it is great in 'Idioterne'. Especially Bodil Jørgensen as Karen, Jens Albinus as Stoffer and Anne Louise Hassing as Susanne are terrific. Von Trier's direction is fine and under the rules of Dogme '95 it looks pretty good as well.
