Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

Capt. Bob Hyde (Bruce Dern) goes to Vietnam. His wife Sally (Jane Fonda) has to start the life without her husband, together with her friend Vi Munson (Penelope Milford) who's man also left for Vietnam. They both start to do volunteer work in the hospital where a lot of Vietnam-veterans are. One of them is Luke Martin (Jon Voight) who is in a wheelchair. Sally becomes close friends with him, even lovers, and then Bob is coming home.

The story is quite good, although a little predictable. Sometimes it is funny, sometimes it is touching. What really makes the movie interesting is the performances. We have Bruce Dern and Penelope Milford who are pretty good. Especially Bruce Dern in the second half gives a fine performance. Jane Fonda (she won an Oscar) is very good. You really care for her character and and although she is not doing a good thing by cheating on her husband, you understand her and even want her to do so. Jon Voight (he also won an Oscar) in his wheelchair has the best performance. You just have to like him. The movie would be nice anyway, but because of the performances the movie is actually pretty good.
