Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

I liked 'The Big One' very much, but compared to 'Roger & Me' and 'Bowling for Columbine' it was less about really something and more about being a comedy. It is a coverage of his book tour he did for his book 'Downsize This!' back in 1996. The documentary has interesting things to say but after a while I found myself watching it as a comedy, waiting for another funny remark, comment or image. As a comedy it is better than most other comedies released today and that is a reason to like this documentary even if you do not agree with the things Moore has to say.

Although I saw it as a comedy, many people will see it as a documentary and then as well you must be able to like this. Of course there is a good chance you will have to like his other movies as well since he always fight for the same kind of people. I enjoyed it all the time except for one little scene. At a certain point midway the movie he wants to hug a lady who was just fired. This cheap shot almost ruined the movie for me. I really believe Moore when he wants to hug and support that lady, but I think he shouldn't have put it into his movie. Without that part the movie would have been better, because too many people will realize how easy it is to give yourself an image this way. Fortunately other parts are a lot better, and more intelligent for that matter.
