Bringing Down the House rating: (out of 4 stars) United States; 2003 Directed by Adam Shankman; produced by Ashok Amritraj, David Hoberman; written by Jason Filardi Starring Steve Martin, Queen Latifah, Eugene Levy, Joan Plowright, Jean Smart, Kimberly J. Brown, Angus T. Jones Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon. There is one sequence in the movie that made me laugh. I sometimes smiled but never really laughed if that sequence wasn't there. It was around the end of the movie. Where I loved Queen Latifah in 'Chicago' she didn't do much to me here. The story is a mess with an ending so strange that you hoped for the Hollywood-cliché. You must like Steve Martin or Queen Latifah very much to enjoy this movie. By the way: the thing that made me smile sometimes was Eugene Levy (Jim's dad from 'American Pie'), he is enjoyable. I have to say you better watch something else. |
