Bride Wars rating: (out of 4 stars) United States; 2009 Directed by Gary Winick; produced by Kate Hudson, Alan Riche, Peter Riche, Julie Yorn; screenplay by Greg DePaul, Casey Wilson, June Diane Raphael Starring Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, Bryan Greenberg, Chris Pratt, Steve Howey, Candice Bergen, Casey Wilson It is very strange to see an unbelievable story develop in this very predictable way. I mean, the storylines in 'Bride Wars' are hard to imagine, but somehow the audience is able to guess what's coming next, no matter how stupid it gets. The lovely Kate Hudson and especially Anne Hathaway - to me one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood - are not able to make us care a single bit. The story, in which best friends dream of marriage for years and become enemies when they have to plan their wedding on the same date, both in the plaza, makes room only for bad jokes and clichéd solutions to fake problems. Once Liv (Hudson) and Emma (Hathaway) hate eachother the film plays like some terrible pranks, not funny and sometimes even annoying. 'Bride Wars' is neither romantic nor comedy.
