Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

Bound is a crime movie. Bound is a thriller. In both ways the film works. Jennifer Tilly plays Violet, the wife of a mobster Caesar (Joe Pantoliano) and she starts an affair with the new woman next door Corky (Gina Gershon), an ex-con. Caesar has to give 2 million dollar to his boss, which was stolen before by a guy named Shelly. In a very violent scene we see how the place of the stolen money is pulled out of Shelly. Violet and Corky decide to steal the money from Caesar and with their plan no one will think they did it. Things go wrong, of course.

The first half hour shows the lesbian relationship between Violet and Corky. It sexy and kind of funny as well. The women find the right way to go through these scenes. They plan how to frame Caesar and the rest. Then their plan has to start. The way the plot thickens is great. It has crime elements and especially the second half of the film has a lot of suspense. Pantoliano is great as the disturbed Caesar.

The direction of the Wachowski Brothers, the future directors of The Matrix, is great and together with a good cinematography it makes the film look beautiful. There are some sex scenes and very violent scenes, one involving a thumb getting cut off. The film is not for everyone, but I think most people can appreciate great filmmaking.
