Below you will find a temporary review for this film.
The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.
Not long ago I saw the director's cut of Blade Runner, directed by Ridley
Scott. I have not seen the original so I can't argue whether the changes are
good or bad.
The story: In 2019 in Los Angeles Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is a Blade
Runner. He has to kill a couple of replicants, artificial humans (that is
what a Blade Runner does). The leader of them is Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer).
They have come to earth, after taken over a space ship, to meet their
creator because they want to expend their lives (they only 'live' for 4
years). While chasing the replicants Deckard also falls in love with another
replicant, Rachel (Sean Young). She first doesn't know she is a replicant
and when she finds out she tries to run. Now Deckard has to kill (which is
called 'retire') her as well.
I liked this film very much. The visuals belong to the best I have seen in
the movies. Considering the film was made in 1982 I was even more amazed.
The Los Angeles of 2019 is one you will remember. The cinematography and the
art direction is great. Although the whole movie is dark, it is easy to
follow. Everything seems to be on the screen with a lot of perfection. We
have a beautiful score by Vangelis and of course a great direction. The
director of 'Alien' and after this one 'Thelma & Louise', 'Gladiator' and
'Black Hawk Down' does a wonderful job here as well. Harrison Ford and Sean
young are good in their and Rutger Hauer is great. Together with an
intelligent story all this makes a great science-fiction film.
