Below you will find a temporary review for this film.
The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.
I liked Diane Keaton and I liked her performance as J.C. Wiatt. The movie
itself wasn't that good, but because of her presence it was worth watching.
The simple story is about a workaholic, Keaton, who suddenly inherits a baby
and decides to keep it. The movie comes up with all kinds of stupid reasons
to keep her from her work and therefor she loses her big assignment. She
quits her job (and her boyfriend) in New York and moves to the quiet
Vermont. She is not very happy there until she meets Dr. Cooper (Sam
Shepard) and invents a new kind of apple sauce and tries to sell that as
baby food.
You understand the simplicity of this story and that is another reason to
admire what Keaton does here. She makes us care for her and the characters
around her, although they are pretty empty, and she makes a story like this
one we take without too many questions. Because she is there, because she
creates the comedy moments, this movie can still entertain you. |
