Below you will find a temporary review for this film.
The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.
'Babe' is your perfect family movie. It has the funny moments for adults and
children, the animals for adults and children, the happy story for adults
and children. In 'Babe' all animals talk and they sound smarter than most
people in any movie.
The little pig names Babe (voice by Christine Cavanaugh) arrives on the farm
of farmer Hoggett (James Cromwell). He lives there with his wife and a
couple of other animals including the sheepdogs Fly (Miriam Margolyes) and
Rex (Hugo Weaving). Babe is sad because his mother is gone and therefor Fly
feels like a mother to him. After Babe saves some sheep he wants to be a
sheepdog as well and after Babe has demonstrated how good he can do that the
farmer thinks Babe should be a sheepdog as well.
Basically this is the story, only there is a grand finale in a sheepdog
contest. The story comes up with some pretty original developments and like
in the Disney animation movies it has some great supporting characters like
Ferdinand the Duck (Danny Mann). This is a movie you can enjoy without
thinking too much but it is not as mindless as most action movies. It has a
little message and a very good heart and a one of the nicest heroes I have
seen in a long time. |
