Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

This movie is about a blind guy Virgil (Val Kilmer) and a woman Amy (Mira Sorvino) falling in love. Amy finds a way to let Virgil see again with an operation and she takes him with her to New York. The sister of Virgil always took care of him but now he has his sight back he wants to stay with Amy. Virgil has a lot of problems with his new thing, sight, and it gives some trouble. Trouble between Amy and Virgil and trouble just for Virgil and trouble just for Amy.

The story is not good. It is very simple and some melodramatic elements are just thrown in during the movie (one of them is the father of Virgil who left him and his sister a long time ago). The performances, especially Val Kilmer's, make the film work. Kilmer and Sorvino have a real chemistry and true emotions. You really feel for the both of them. Kelly McGillis as the sister is good also and we have a nice part from Nathan Lane as a visual therapist.

Overall the film is simple, very simple actually, but I was never bored and never really annoyed. Kilmer did a lot better here than in most of his other films (he was good in The Doors and Heat) and Sorvino proved to me that she can do a lot of different things. The film is watchable because of them.
