Below you will find a temporary review for this film. The real (better, more complete) review will be online very soon.

'American Pie 2' contains the same characters as the first film, has given more screen time to Seann William Scott as Steve Stifeler since he was the most popular character, and continues basically where we left off. Where did we leave off? After high school, where Jim (Jason Biggs) had sex with band geek Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) although he actually wanted Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) did the same with Vicky (Tara Reid) although they went their separate ways, Oz (Chris Klein) started dating Heather (Mena Suvari), and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) had some intimate moments with Stifler's mom (Jennifer Coolidge).

We continue as the friends reunite after their first year of college, going to a great house at the beach to spend the summer, hoping to end it with a great party. Jim gets a message that Nadia will come to the party and so he goes looking for Michelle in band camp so she can help him with his moves, Oz and Heather try to keep their relationship going over the phone, and Finch prepares himself for Stifler's mom, hoping she will show up. Of course Stifler himself is not too happy about that. Jim, Kevin, Oz, Finch and Stifler work as painters for two women, Amber (Lisa Arturo) and Danielle (Denise Faye), to pay for everything. Of course the five bring themselves in some funny but embarrassing situations.

Although the first film is more original and slightly funnier, this sequel comes really close. What helps in a sex comedy is the way characters are treated. The 'American Pie'-series clearly wants the best for them, even though they sometimes have to take a bumpy ride to get that. Okay, most of the jokes (or actually all of them) have to do with sex, but they are not in bad taste as we have seen in films like 'Slackers' and 'Van Wilder'. Although I kind of enjoyed those films as well they were only suitable for a small audience; 'American Pie' and its sequels will find a bigger one because besides sex it has charm and, at times, wit.
